Stevies Guitars.

I guess when you`ve reached my age one or two guitars that you have owned, have passed through your fingers so to speak for whatever reason and usually for a lot less money than they were really worth.  You let them go at the time, then live to regret it as they rise in value but you no longer have them.  So I now try to keep guitars that I enjoy playing, they may not be everyone`s idea of a great guitar, but if they make you want to pick them up and play them …… then they must be worth holding on to.  The guitars I own all have different characteristics which makes it difficult to prefer any one over another, so for that reason alone here are my thoughts on the following guitars:

Gibson Les Paul:  The ultimate rock guitar?

Possibly, certainly loud, warm and dirty.

Is it as versatile as a “Strat” or a “PRS”, that is

a matter of opinion, but an awesome guitar nonetheless.

Patrick Eggle Berlin:  These have to be one of the most underrated

guitars available, a very versatile guitar with the option of 22 or 24 fret necks.

Paul Reed Smith:  I took quite a while getting to appreciate these guitars but there is no doubting they play

almost as good as they look, but what a price new.

That said, they are a great guitar.

Fender Stratocastor:  I have played “Strats” on and off since I

started playing and have always gone back to them.  Some people

like `em, some don`t.  I have gigged and recorded with these

guitars and although I sometimes gig other guitars this is the one I always return to.

Fender Strat- Eliminator:

I have had the idea for a customised guitar  for some time, the problem is being able to trust your
guitar to someone you  have never met before who is then going to strip, re-spray and hopefully
re-create your ideas into that which comes close to your original idea.  I  came across Mike`s handiwork whilst
looking through a popular guitar  magazine and thought I could do something with a desert scene not unlike his
"roadrunner".  I wanted something that carried a theme rather than a mass of  colour and began to experiment with
different options around the type of  music that interests me most.  At one point the desert scene was
abandoned  in favour of a custom car that filled the guitar, but the shape of the  guitar and the shape
of the custom car were not compatible, this concept  then evolved into a hot rod driving across the desert.
Not unlike a ZZ Top style hot rod driving through the Texas pan-handle.
